Water Dragons, oil, enamel and acrylic on canvas, 200 x 120 x 2 cm on two canvas frames each measuring100 x 120 x 2 cm.
Water Dragons, a flickering glimmer of gold, the water twists and turns. The green blue depths shine emerald as spectral life glides by. I glimpse the colour, I hang my hand in the water, I feel the cool space where the graceful red phantoms live. I loose hours, watching, feeling myself being lulled with the gentle motion around me. Bubbles rise to the surface, golden sunlight refracts the shapes, I remember the legend of the Koi as dragons. Water Dragons has been created to suggest the movement of golden red carp in water. An expressionist background represents turbulent water where fish dance and feed. The Koi themselves are fleeting abstract shapes hidden in part by the water. Gold paint captures and refracts light adding depth and life to the painting. Golden glitter acts to suggest the suns dancing rays on the water surface. Water Dragons is ready to hang.
