Twilight Blooms oil on canvas 90 x 90 x 2 cm.
Twilight Blooms, the sunlight fades. A hidden garden, guarded by shadows. The sky becomes ink, blue violet hues. It stains the land. The sun has set, the air is cool., scorching the ground with iridescent light.
My inspiration for this painting, a flowering garden at twilight. This is represented by cool air, luminous light and rich deep hues. I wanted the painting to remain essentially abstract and for me this meant focusing on colour before shape. Deep hues of blue and purple and the faded pink seen in low light. The painting is a garden full of Hydrangea and wild ghostly roses and the suggestion of more. It draws the viewer in to the cool solace of night. Twilight blooms is ready to hang.
