Symphony in Blue Violet, oil and enamel on canvas, 200 x 120 x 2 cm on two panels each measuring 100 x 120 x 2 cm
Symphony in Blue Violet. How would I define a Symphony? For me, it is when all components work together to form something beautiful. Each separate entity is moving toward chaos but together all aspects resonate at the same frequency to create something astounding. Nature is perfect in her compositions.
Inspired by endless fields of blue violet wildflowers and set against a cool evening sky, I intentionally used an expressionist background to suggest the continual movement and change of wildlife. Violet flowers fill the canvas and remind me of childhood memories of a landscape of lavender fields and cool summer nights. Delicate white daisies with a hint of peach break up the purple and keep the composition fresh whilst dripped gold paint suggests the undergrowth and complements the beauty of the purple flowers. Symphony in Blue Violet is ready to hang.
