Deviant Beauty, oil on canvas, 120 x 120 x 3 cm
I lay beneath lavender pendants and deep purple blooms. In the shade of the Wisteria tree I look at the beauty around me, the tangled branches and abundance of colour, the perfection and the chaos, Deviant Beauty.
My inspiration for this stunning painting is a wonderful arboretum near my home where you can sit under the shade of a tree on the banks of a lake and let hours slip by. In springtime the blossoms on the trees are breathtaking. The painting uses a contrast of expressionist dripped paint and palette knifed flowers. Flecks of gold paint catch and reflect light adding a changing aspect to the painting. Textured blossoms are applied thickly in a repeating motion of undulating tones to create a stunning artwork which places the viewer in the shade of the lilac vines. Dripped and thrown paint suggests the movement of the blossoms in a gentle breeze. Deviant Beauty is ready to hang.
