Wild Wisteria oil and enamel on canvas 120 x 120 x 3 cm
Wild Wisteria, I sit in the shade of lavender pendants and deep purple blooms. Delicate Clematis climb within the branches…transient beauty, fleeting and startling.
In the shade of the Wisteria tree I look at the beauty around me, the tangled branches and abundance of colour, the perfection and the chaos, twisted beauty.
My inspiration for this stunning painting is a wonderful arboretum near my home where you can sit under the shade of a tree on the banks of a lake and let hours slip by. In spring time the blossoms on the trees are breathtaking. The painting uses a contrast of expressionist dripped paint and palette knifed flowers. Flecks of gold paint catch and reflect light adding a changing aspect to the painting. Textured blossoms are applied thickly in a repeating motion of undulating tones to create a stunning artwork which places the viewer in the shade of the lilac vines. Wild Wisteria is ready to hang
