Summer Song, oil, acrylic and enamel on canvas, 120 x 120 x 3 cm
I lay here in the grass. Summer sun warms my skin. A haze of floral colour dances in the breeze, moving in time to a summer song.
Inspired by the beauty of a wild summer hillside festooned with wild flowers, I wanted to create a painting which suggests the moment. I have kept the detail of the painting loose to suggest the movement of the flowers in the breeze. Delicate, finely painted flowers lie hidden amongst the cacophony of colour to provide a focal point to the painting. Summer Song brings back memories of laughing in the sunshine and running through fields of wild flowers. It makes me smile. Summer Song is ready to hang.
