Summer Dream, oil and acrylic on canvas, 150 x 100 x 2 cm
Summer Dream, blue skies streaked with clouds, the air is warm like a soft breath. The yellow field sways, a ripple of gold and a murmur of forgotten days. Red poppies speak of lost love and dandelion seed heads bob in the breeze.
In Summer Dream I wanted to create a simple painting expressing open space. A vast expanse of sky and field. Memories of my childhood running in the fields, hiding from a long forgotten lover and laughing under a summer sun. A remembered warmth of summers past. I have painted Summer Dream in an expressionist style using a dynamic application of paint to create movement and texture, to represent the movement of the sky and fields in a summer breeze. The painting is essentially colour fields using the red poppies as a focal point to bring the viewer into the landscape. Summer Dream is ready to hang.
