Larkspur, Oil, acrylic and enamel on canvas 80 x 120 x 3 m
Larkspur…fields of blue. A meadow ocean, ripples in the breeze. Wildflowers reaching tall toward the sky. The colours merge, I lose focus. The sky and earth unite. I lay in the blue. Held. Cocooned. Butterflies dance on the edge of my vision. I am lost in the blue. Larkspur
Inspired by blue, I used the blue larkspur meadow flower as the base for this painting. I wanted to imply the feeling of being lost in blue and to meld the sky and flowers together. I gave a suggestion of shape to the abstract colour and used flecks of gold to suggest sunlight. Bright orange wild flowers offset the blue and contrast wickedly against the periwinkle blue. Painted in an expressionist style with impressionist elements Larkspur is semi abstract and comes into focus as a wild flower meadow as the viewer considers it. Larkspur.
