Goldfish, a beautiful abstract work inspired by water and the play of light on it. I was fortunate to visit a beautiful arboretum and whilst walking through the grounds I came upon a small pond full of goldfish. Trees shaded the water and the colourful fish swam freely and effortlessly in the shade of the branches whilst the sun shimmered upon the surface of the water. I wanted to create an abstract work which used colour and directional line to portray to a viewer how it felt to look at this beautiful tranquil scene on a light filled summers day. I carefully selected the colours to evoke the feeling of sunlight and blue sky’s reflected in water. I then layered in other colours which reflected the overhanging branches of trees. The result is a beautiful modern abstract work in which the viewer is captured by the warmth of the day and the tranquillity of the scene. This painting is 80 x 60 x 3cm. The boxed edges are painted black. Goldfish is ready to hang.
