Cherry Blossom Bliss, oil and enamel on canvas, 120 x 70 x 3 cm
Pink petals fall lazily in the lake. In the shade of the cherry tree I look at the surrounding gardens and the startling colour in the sunlight. I feel more fluid, more relaxed and chilled. Here I feel lulled. My inspiration for this beautiful painting is a wonderful arboretum near my home where you can sit under the shade of a tree on the banks of a lake and let hours slip by. In sunlight the colours can be astonishing and I wanted to capture this light in Cherry Blossom Bliss. The painting uses a contrast of strong horizontal line and dripped paint offset with finely painted branches and blossoms to create a gloriously soothing artwork. Cherry Blossom Bliss is ready to hang.
