Babber Sher, oil and enamel on canvas, 120 x 120 x 2 cm
Babber Sher, he stalks, the hillside, prowling, hunting, waiting.
Babber Sher is the Urdu word for Lion, specifically a ferocious hunter of a lion. In this painting I wanted to capture the intensity of the hunting lion. His stare, fixed and his gaze completely focused on his prey. Babber Sher has been created using an expressionist style of painting accompanied by fine art detail which creates a dynamic painting full of tension, and the power and strength of its subject. Gold flecks capture light in the painting adding depth and interest whilst the gaze of the lion is glassy and hyper realistic compared to the shaggy pose of the great cat king. Strong palette knifed strokes create texture and movement in the lions mane. Babber Sher is ready to hang
