Inspired by the beautiful colour of Vincent van Gogh's impressionist paintings and the dynamic movement in Jackson Pollock's expressionist artworks, I wanted to capture wild flowers in a moving landscape where light creates dancing shapes through twisted leaves and chaotic undergrowth. This semi abstract, impressionist painting is full of dynamic movement whilst representing a wild garden, with large childish flowers imitating the beautiful simplicity of nature. The expressionist undergrowth signifies a movement toward chaos while the delicate leaves and butterflies give a focal point to the painting and are juxtaposed against the background and represent order within the chaos.
