Little Gems, oil and enamel on canvas 80 x 80 x 3 cm
Little gems, hiding in the grass, striving up toward the sun. Perfectly pink and full of beauty, little pink gems hiding in the undergrowth. Created in an expressionist style with dripped and thrown paint, Little Gems contrasts the delicate beauty of the pink poppies with the wild and chaotic undergrowth and sky. The flowers are created with palette knifed oil paint applied thickly to create texture. Gold splashes of colour catch and reflect light adding depth and interest to the artwork and iridescent flecks glitter and sparkle through the sky. I have kept the flowers partially deconstructed to symbolise natures wild abandon and the circle of life. Little Gems is ready to hang.
