Eglantine, oil and enamel on canvas 160 x 100 x 2 cm on two canvases (Diptych) each measuring 80 x 100 x 2 cm
Eglantine …twisted crooked rose bush, a forgotten patch of garden, flowers bloom, life grows, nature’s defiance. Eglantine
My inspiration, a pile of earth, heaped and forgotten, blooms into life.
I painted Eglantine with contrasting styles. A tangled abstract expressionist background, chaotic and free, with beautiful textured wild roses painted in with strong palette knifed strokes to represent the enduring beauty of life. Daisies and dandelions frame the roses and add definition to the painting. Gold branches catch and reflect light. Eglantine is ready to hang.
