Solitude, acrylic and enamel on canvas, 80 x 60 x 2 cm
Inspired by daybreak and the rising sun. I love mornings when I am awake before the rest of my family. I pull on jeans and a sweater and quickly slip out of the house to walk the dogs. A chill in the air, a comfortable solitude, a maze of trees to loose myself in and a guiding light.
I wanted to create an impression of this moment. The viewer is met by a beautiful blend of colour which suggests forest or woodland with wild flowers and twisted undergrowth. Juxtaposed against the strong line are ethereal butterflies, dancing in the dawn light. The sun rays are created with iridescent gold paint. Depending upon where the painting is hung and how much light reflects off it affects the strength of colour in the gold sun rays. I have tried to include photographs of the artwork from different angles and in different light to reflect this changing aspect of the painting. Solitude is ready to hang
