The Storm, acrylic and enamel on canvas 200 x 100 x 3 cm on two panels each measuring 100 x 100 x 3 cm.
The Storm, ink blue skies the scent of rain. The setting sun bleeds over the wheat fields turning gold to orange. A crackle of static permeates the air. The air is oppressive and heavy but a fresh wind is coming promising cooler days. I feel a rush of excitement. The storm.
Inspired by summer thunder storms, I wanted to capture the dark ominous presence of the storm but also the relief from summers heat. The orange fields suggest the warmth from a setting sun whilst the abstract expressionist sky creates movement to signify the approaching winds and rain. Gold flecks are streaked through the sky and fields and a dark horizon line gives the impression of endless skies and fields. The Storm is created on two panels (Diptych) and is ready to hang. The Storm.
