The Raspberry Patch is a large abstract expressionist painting on three panels (Triptych). The total image size is 240 x 100 x 1.5cm. Each panel measures 80 x 100 x 1.5cm. The Raspberry Patch is inspired by summer and the succulent sweetness of foraged fruits. Raspberries, like hidden rubies, fingers stained with blood red juice, a basket full of wild berries. In golden evening light I collect my bounty. Treading in shadows and scraping my legs on spiny twisted brier roses. An unpreened and savage corner of my garden, perfect in its wild delight. Abundant in beauty and wicked twisted thorns. The succulent scent of wild thyme and sweet violets mingles in the evening air. A glowing warmth bathes the sky as the swollen sun sinks over the horizon. Nature in its wildest places, a savage and intoxicating beauty. In my inspiration for The Raspberry patch I was drawn to the rich tones of berries and summer. The painting is essentially abstract colour. The viewer is initially met by a wall of wonderful contrasting shades which suggest light and shadow. As you come closer to the painting fine detail brings the garden to life with twisted crooked brier roses, an abundance of flowers and fruits and delicate, juxtaposed butterflies. The Raspberry Patch is a large painting at 240 x 100 x 1.5cm. It has been created on three panels designed to be hung next to each other, each panel measures 80 x 100 x 1.5cm.
