The Hydrangea patch, oil and enamel on canvas 162 x 100 x 2 cm on two panels each measuring 81 x 100 x 2 cm
The Hydrangea patch,… chaotic and free. A blue violet haze of brilliant blooms.
Morning glory, a delicate carpet of floral, purple stars, left behind by the night sky, a gift from the heavens. Their twisted vines and tangled stems, a chaotic web of life reaching ever upward, striving to face the sun to feel the warmth of morning light caress their skin and unfurl their petals. A bountiful mist of blue in bloom, The Hydrangea patch
Blue, the colour of peace and tranquillity. I wanted to create a painting based on blue.
It is summer and all around garden walls and hedgerows abound with trailing vines of Morning Glory with an abundance of purple flower heads. Beautiful Hydrangea reflect the colour of the sky with kisses of pink scattered between. I used an expressionist background to reflect the tangled vines and stems and the haze of the summer sky. Yellow flares suggesting dandelion heads connect the colours together and flashes of iridescent gold glint through the undergrowth. The Hydrangea patch
