Golden Wheat Fields. Oil and enamel on canvas, 180x 100 x 2 cm on three panels each measuring 60 x 100 x 2 cm (Triptych).
Golden Wheat Fields, a summer blue sky, the air is warm like a soft breath. The wheat sways, a ripple of gold and a murmur of forgotten days. Red poppies speak of lost love.
In The Wheat Field I wanted to create a simple painting expressing open space. A vast expanse of sky and field. Memories of my youth, running in the fields, hiding from a childhood lover. Laughing under a summer sun and a remembered warmth of summers past. I have painted The Wheat Field in an expressionist style using dynamic application of paint to create movement and texture, to represent the movement of the sky and grass. The painting is essentially abstract colour using the red poppies as a focal point to bring the viewer into the wheat field. Flecks of gold paint shine iridescent like flashes of golden sunshine.
