The storm is a large painting which conveys the ferocious power of the sea against a back drop of suburban life. The art is visually enticing and the viewer is left to contemplate the lives behind the windows. My inspiration for The Storm, a walk on the cliff edge on a thunderous evening, looking into the lit windows of the town. I look at the sea, I feel the ferocity of the storm surge. The salt air sticks to my skin and lips. I look at the houses on the coastline and see the warmth of light in the windows. I imagine the lives. I feel small. Using dripped and splashed paint The Storm has been created using oil and acrylic paint. The Wave has been painted in an expressionist style whist the town is naive and simple. Juxtaposed styles signifying the power of nature and the simplicity and frailty of man. The Storm is large at 143 x 112 x 3 cm. It is ready to hang.
