SOLD Too many young men, who were loved, who felt the sun on their face, who lived, have died in war. The poppy is a symbol of those who have fought for their countries and lost their lives. For me, I find my heart breaks for all those men and boys. I have two sons and I hope they never witness the horrors of war. In this painting I was inspired to paint an image which placed the poppy on the beaches, to signify the Normandy landings. The sky is heralding rain which drip like tears down the painting. The seas are stormy. But beyond this is the beauty of the wild flowers and the lives of those now lost to us. This painting is large at 100 x 100 x 2.5 cm. The boxed edges are painted a deep brown and the painting has been coated with a satin varnish to protect the pigments. It is ready to hang.
