Creeping Things and Fallen Roses is a large abstract expressionist painting measuring 139 x 104 x 3 cm. As Summer bows to the coming Winter, Autumn offers a respite to creeping, wild blooms. In a last salutation to Summer’s heat, wild roses, fragile in beauty but strong, uncivilized survivors dance in the glowing sunlight in a hidden corner of a forgotten garden. The air is crisp and the light is strong. Fewer hours of daylight remain and time is precious to these neglected plants. They strain toward the heat, dancing in their final days, unbroken and sublime. Colours explode in a grand finale of celebration that is summer. This abstract symphony of colour and movement is juxtaposed to the elegant butterflies that hover in the image. On entering a room where the painting is displayed the viewer is met by a screen of abstract colour and shape which gradually focuses to become a dazzling garden and then moves out of focus again to become colour and intrigue. My inspiration is the ever changing hidden corners of my garden, where the wild things grow. This painting has been created on a bespoke wooden frame with high quality artist canvas. The boxed edges are painted black. Creeping Things and Fallen Roses is ready to hang.
