Pretty in Pink #2, oil and enamel on canvas 100 x 100 x 2 cm
Wild roses always inspire me, beautiful and delicate yet strong and sharp, wild roses aren’t afraid to shout of their beauty and their strength, a reflection of loves passion and pain. Pretty in Pink is a large oil painting painted in an expressionist style with dripped and thrown paint. Inspired by the strong colour and shape in Van Goghs floral artworks and with elements of expressionist drip work in the style of Jackson Pollock, the roses are painted with strong palette knifed strokes creating texture and depth in the artwork. I have kept the flowers partially deconstructed to symbolism the organic growth of nature and the chaos and beauty of life. Delicate white clusters of flowers sit fresh and pure against the blush flowers while ethereal butterflies hover in the sky. Pretty in Pink is ready to hang.
